“It’s a place where time is fading. A place where the physical contours of matter disappear. Is there a place for reality in these images of Stéphane Mahé? No. Somewhere is a remarkable, almost spiritual work that opens a window to an otherwise impalpable place. An inaccessible place whose photograph echoes, somewhere behind the retina of the artist, where everything is played out. The perception first, then the emotion, the intention and finally the gesture. Stéphane Mahé wants to “feel the life” around him to “capture the essence”. Somewhere is a sequence of images that articulate like a feverish breath. The talent of the photographer is to have amplified the intensity of these moments of existence that he gleans modestly. For him, photography is an epiphany of being. He does not just show, he inspires. “
A photographer for about 15 years, Stéphane Mahé has for some time practiced 360° spherical photography and collaborated with various news websites.
The desire to move towards a more «personal» photograph gave birth to a first collaboration with Les Editions de Juillet and Arnaud Le Gouëfflec for the book «Terminus Saint-Malo» in the collection « Villes Mobiles » and various exhibitions.
Today the photographic adventure continues with the series Somewhere.
